Blaze Breaks Out at Ilford Flats – Two Rescued by Firefighters – UKNIP

The London Fire Brigade rushed to a fire in Vine Gardens, Ilford, after receiving the first of six emergency calls at 2:48pm today (October 9).

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were dispatched from Ilford, Dagenham, and Plaistow to tackle the blaze.

Man Rescued from First-Floor Window

The fire gutted half of the ground floor and part of the first floor. Firefighters heroically rescued a man trapped at a first-floor window using an extension ladder. Another man was pulled to safety from the ground floor by crews in breathing apparatus.

Victims Taken to Hospital with Smoke Inhalation

Two men were rushed to hospital, with two more people also treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

The fire was fully extinguished by 4:20pm. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
