Four men have been charged with the murder of Michael Wheeler, who has been missing for over a month. David Garland, 39, and Jack Rance, 28, both of no fixed address, along with Mark Roberts, 38, of Juniper Close, Yeovil, and Reuben Clare, 18, of Sherborne Road, Yeovil, appeared at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on charges related to Wheeler’s disappearance.
Police launched an investigation into the case after concerns about Wheeler’s welfare were raised on September 16. Despite extensive searches and ongoing efforts, Wheeler has not been found. The defendants have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear at Bristol Crown Court on September 27.
In addition to the four men charged, a fifth man who had been arrested last week was re-arrested on Wednesday, while another man arrested on Monday has been released on bail, police said. A woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has also been granted bail.
Michael Wheeler, 37, was last seen on August 24, and his car was found abandoned in Yeovil last week, prompting intensified searches. Officers have since conducted searches in multiple locations, including Ham Hill, Stoke sub Hamdon, and at various addresses in Yeovil and Crewkerne. Wheeler has not made contact with family or friends and missed several regular appointments, which raised significant concerns for his safety.
The investigation continues as police work to determine what happened to Michael Wheeler, and the four charged individuals remain in custody as legal proceedings unfold.
