Folkstone Rapist jailed

A sex offender from Folkestone has been jailed for 11 years after he was found guilty of raping a child between 2008 and 2009. Leslie Iles, 61, of no fixed address was arrested in March 2017 after the victim came forward to Kent Police. Isles was found guilty of the rape along with a sexual assault following a trial at Canterbury Crown Court on Tuesday 27 March 2018. He was sentenced on Wednesday 9 May 2018. Detective Inspector Rebecca Philpott said: ‘I would like to thank the victim for being brave and coming forward with information that allows us to ensure people like Iles are sent to prison. ‘These offences are simply unthinkable and Iles will now serve time in prison for what he did. ‘I hope this reassures anyone suffering from an unreported sexual offence that justice can be done and that it’s never too late to come forward.’
