Five Stabbed at Plumstead Music Event as Police Investigate Violent Disorder

A man has suffered life-changing injuries after a violent incident at a music event in Plumstead left five people stabbed in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Metropolitan Police and emergency services were called to Nathan Way, SE28 at around 4.20am on Saturday, 17 May, following reports of a stabbing during a gathering of around 300 people.

Five men — aged 22, 24, 24, 31 and 32 — were found with stab wounds and taken to hospital. While none of their injuries are life-threatening, one victim is understood to have sustained life-altering injuries, police confirmed today (Monday, 19 May).

All Five Victims Arrested

In a dramatic turn, all five injured men were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. The Metropolitan Police have since launched a major investigation to determine whether other individuals were involved in the violent outbreak.

A crime scene was established and remains active on Nathan Way. Police are continuing to conduct forensic examinations and gather witness statements.

Police Statement

Detective Inspector Steven Andrews, who is leading the investigation, said:

“Officers responded quickly to provide medical assistance to the five injured people alongside the London Ambulance Service and ensure the safety of around 300 people who were at this music event.

“The five men who have been injured have been arrested for violent disorder and we continue to work to establish any wider involvement.

“There will be a continued police presence on Nathan Way throughout today while we continue this investigation. We encourage anyone with any information to contact police to assist with enquiries.”

London Ambulance Service Response

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service added:

“We were called at 4.17am on Saturday 16 May to reports of a stabbing in Nathan Way, SE28. We sent resources including ambulance crews, paramedics in response cars, an incident response officer, advanced paramedics and London’s air ambulance.

“We treated three patients at the scene before taking them to hospital.”
