A major emergency response was launched in Howard Drive, Borehamwood today after five people were found unwell at a property, in what police believe to be a suspected drug overdose.
Emergency services were called shortly before 11am following reports that several individuals had fallen ill inside a residential address. One man and four women were taken to hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not yet been confirmed.
A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug offences. He was also taken to hospital for treatment and remains under medical care while police continue their enquiries.
Second Arrest in Unrelated Incident
While officers were attending the original incident, a separate altercation unfolded outside another address on Howard Drive, where a man and woman were reportedly threatened.
A woman was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and possession of an offensive weapon. She has been taken into custody for questioning. No injuries were reported in this second, unrelated incident.
Increased Police Presence
Inspector Rachael Robertson, from the Hertsmere Neighbourhood Policing Team, confirmed that the public will see an increased police presence in the area throughout the evening.
“We are increasing patrols in the area this evening, so if you have any concerns please do speak to our officers who will be on hand to help,” said Inspector Robertson.
