Firefighters are continuing to battle a large blaze at an agricultural building near Marsh Road, Burham on Crouch. The fire, which broke out earlier this evening, has led to heavy smoke in the surrounding area, with emergency crews working through the night to control the flames.
Station Manager Scott Fretton provided an update, stating, “The building is completely alight and firefighters are making steady progress, but expect to be here overnight. There is still a lot of low-level smoke in the area, so if you live nearby, please keep your windows and doors shut.
Relief crews from Harlow, Colchester, Clacton, Grays, Brentwood, and Orsett are on standby to monitor the scene and assist with the operation throughout the night. Despite the intensity of the fire, there have been no reported injuries.
The fire is still ongoing, and crews are working to surround the blaze to prevent it from spreading further. Authorities have advised residents in the nearby area to remain cautious and stay indoors due to the smoke.
Once the fire has been fully extinguished, an investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the blaze.
More information will be provided as the situation develops.
