Fire crews tackle thatch blaze on the Isle of Wight

Fire crews from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are battling a blaze at a thatched cottage in Brighstone this evening (Saturday). Two appliances from Newport have been sent to the incident. Emergency crews were alerted to the cottage, located off a lane on Limestone Road, just after 6pm on Saturday evening. The call was sparked following a fire in a cooker that was out on arrival. Crews made the area safe by isolating the cooker.
