Fire Crews Tackle Chimney Fire at The Stag Public House in Maidstone

Maidstone, Kent – On Wednesday, 17 January 2024, at approximately 18:16, fire crews were dispatched to respond to reports of a chimney fire at a public house located on Maidstone High Street.

The incident prompted the mobilization of four fire engines and collaboration with Kent Police to manage the situation. Firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene, prepared with the necessary equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE), breathing apparatus, high-pressure hose reel jets, and a positive-pressure ventilation fan.

Upon arrival, crews discovered that the fire had originated within the chimney of the establishment and had extended to the surrounding hearth. To combat the blaze, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus deployed a high-pressure hose reel jet, effectively extinguishing the flames.

Additionally, a height vehicle platform was employed to facilitate firefighting at the roof level of the structure. This strategic deployment allowed responders to gain better access to the affected areas and control the situation more effectively.

To enhance safety and mitigate the effects of smoke and fumes, a positive-pressure ventilation fan was employed to disperse the potentially harmful elements from the property.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries resulting from the incident. The precise cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and investigations are currently underway to establish its origin.

The swift and coordinated response by the fire crews and collaboration with Kent Police have played a crucial role in preventing further escalation of the situation and ensuring the safety of the public and property.
