Fire crews from across Hampshire called to fractured Gas main alight

A fractured gas main saw the attendance of four fire appliances from Hampshire Fire and rescue service and officers from Hampshire constabulary putting in a temporary road closure this evening. Fire crews from Petersfield, Hordean, Romsey and Cosham attended the main that had caught light and was about to engulf nearby trees as flames licked the branches. The fire services called in engineers from the Southern Gas Networks to isolate the supply before using a high pressure hose reel to exstingsher the flames and make the scene safe.
