Tragedy struck on Thursday as officials reported a fatal shooting at Mariano’s store in Evergreen Park, Chicago. The village authorities stated that they received reports of an active shooter just before 10.00 in the 2500 block of West 95th Street.
However, after assessing the situation, law enforcement quickly determined that the incident was a “domestic situation” and assured the public that there was no further threat to their safety. An officer present at the scene confirmed that the shooting occurred inside the store premises.
In an official tweet, the village urged individuals to avoid the area, stating, “The area remains an active crime scene, and we ask everyone to avoid the area.”
Police revealed that a female victim was discovered in the store’s back storage room with multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Subsequently, law enforcement apprehended a suspect on the North Side of Chicago, bringing them into custody.
Upon the incident, the scene was swarmed by multiple police cars and crowds of people who had gathered outside the store. Authorities swiftly responded to the situation, working to ensure the safety of those present and investigate the shooting.
