Police in Penzance are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision involving a car at Stable Hobba, Newlyn. The incident occurred around 12:35 am on Saturday, July 15.
Officers have responded to reports of a Honda Civic being involved in a collision. Upon arrival, officers discovered the vehicle unattended, and it was believed that one person had left the scene.
Approximately an hour later, at 1 am, the police received a report expressing concern for the welfare of a man on Alverton Road in Penzance. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in his 30s in cardiac arrest. Despite the efforts of both officers and paramedics to revive him, he was pronounced deceased.
The next of kin of the deceased individual has been informed of the tragic event.
In connection with the collision, a grey BMW, believed to be linked to the incident, has been recovered by the police.
To facilitate investigations, road closures were implemented for a significant period while the Alliance Roads Policing Team and forensic collision investigators examined the scenes.
The public’s cooperation and patience during road closures are greatly appreciated by the police.
Subsequently, a 29-year-old man from Penzance has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving. Additionally, a 26-year-old man from Penzance has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through alcohol and possession of a class B drug. Both individuals remain in police custody.
