Police were called at 03:03hrs on Thursday, 12 October to reports of a fire at a residential address in Leahurst Road SE13.
Officers responded with the LAS and LFB.
Sadly a man aged in his 70s was found deceased.
A woman aged in her 60s was taken to hospital; her condition is not being treated as life-threatening.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
