Family Attended Wrong Cremation, NHS Issues Apology

In a distressing incident, a bereaved family in Wales was forced to attend a second cremation after being mistakenly given the wrong body at the Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran. The family’s loved one’s body had been cremated, and they were left devastated by the error.

Nicola Prygodzicz, the chief executive of the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, expressed the board’s “utter heartbreak” and apologised profusely to the family. She assured the public that this was an isolated incident and that an initial review had identified human error as the cause.

The health board has launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the mix-up and is committed to ensuring that such a mistake never happens again. They have also pledged to provide the family with ongoing support during this difficult time.
