Police and emergency services were called to Erith Pier, Wharfside Close, late on Thursday, 5 December, following reports of concerns for someone’s safety.
The call was made at 11.45pm, prompting a large-scale response involving the Marine Police Unit, National Police Air Service (NPAS), London Ambulance Service, and London Fire Brigade.
Search and Outcome
Emergency crews conducted a thorough search of the area, but no trace of an individual standing on the pier or having entered the water was found. After extensive efforts, the operation was stood down.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are urging anyone who may have witnessed anything unusual at the pier or has relevant information to come forward.
