Emergency at Wildern School Leads to Air Ambulance Response and Lockdown

A medical emergency at Wildern School in Southampton has prompted a swift air ambulance response and a temporary lockdown this morning, creating a stir among students and parents alike. The incident occurred during a Year 7 assembly at the school located in Hedge End, leading to immediate medical attention for a staff member and precautionary measures by the school administration.

Emergency services were alerted to the situation on Tuesday morning. The air ambulance arrived shortly after to assist the ill staff member, who was reported to be in stable condition following the incident. In response to the emergency, the school was placed in lockdown to ensure the safety and security of the students and staff.

The school issued a detailed statement to parents explaining the circumstances and the steps taken following the incident. “This morning we have had to lock down the school due to a member of staff being taken ill in the Year 7 assembly,” the statement read. It has meant that we have had to call out the air ambulance and ensure that the students remained in lessons.

Recognising the potential impact of the event on students, particularly those who witnessed the incident, the school has offered support and the option for Year 7 students to go home early. “We are just about to speak with all of the year 7s about what has happened and offer them support,” the school communicated to parents.

Parents picking up their children were instructed to collect them from the sports hall and text their arrival so that students could be escorted safely to the car park. The school has emphasized that any student leaving early must be picked up and not walk home alone, considering the traumatic nature of the morning’s events.

The South Central Ambulance Service and Wildern School have been contacted for further comments, but responses were pending at the time of reporting. Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that their forces were not involved in the response to the incident.
