With a combined project value of over £12 million, the London-based projects cover a wide range of interventions, from artificial pitch provision to changing room improvements. In Barking and Dagenham, Parsloes Park is set for a major redevelopment with three full-size floodlit 3G football turf pitches as well as gym, studio space, changing rooms and café with social space. London Sport Awards winners Tigers JFC are among the clubs who will benefit from new facilities at Brittons Playing Field which aims to address a shortfall in pitches in the borough. Local charities, St Matthew’s Project and CEF Lyncx will deliver programmes including disability sessions and multi-sports activities at a new floodlit multi-use games area on Roupell Estate in Brixton. The Fulham Foundation also hopes to use the facility to deliver a range of programmes including Kicks, Walking Football, Girls Wildcats and Mental Health Sessions. Capital City Academy are set to build new accessible changing rooms while Westminster Academy’s new pitches will support numerous local community groups and charities delivering a variety of programmes. Programmes include the Met Police working with young people at risk of offending, OneYou Westminster, Man v Fat, London Tigers Asian charity, and Unity in the Community. Projects in Brent, Enfield, Greenwich and Wandsworth are also set for improvements to facilities thanks to the government initiative that is investing funding to level up facilities across the UK. The programme aims to provide funding to make essential facilities and pitch improvements so more communities have access to high-quality provision. Partnered with funding from the FA and Premier League, these locally-led projects are part of the government’s Local Football Facility plans.
