After five years gracing the screens of EastEnders, Clay Milner Russell, best known for his portrayal of Bobby Beale, is bidding farewell to the iconic BBC soap opera.

The 24-year-old actor’s departure from EastEnders was confirmed by The Sun, revealing that Milner Russell is set to leave the show to pursue new acting opportunities. Taking over the role of Bobby from Eliot Carrington in 2019, Milner Russell has left an indelible mark on the character during his tenure on the soap.

Throughout his time on EastEnders, Bobby Beale has been at the centre of numerous gripping storylines, including the shocking revelation of his involvement in the death of his own sister, Lucy Beale. Moreover, Bobby faced life-threatening situations, such as being caught in a fire at Kathy’s café.

Romantically entangled, Bobby’s relationships have also been a focal point, notably his current involvement with his step-sister Anna Knight, despite the tumultuous events surrounding her liaison with Bobby’s best friend Freddie Slater (portrayed by Bobby Brazier).

While bidding adieu to EastEnders marks the end of an era for Milner Russell, the decision to depart was not taken lightly. According to a TV insider quoted by The Sun, the talented actor is eager to explore diverse acting roles beyond the confines of Albert Square. Despite the difficulty of leaving behind the character and his castmates, Milner Russell feels the time is ripe to embark on new adventures in his acting career.

Nevertheless, fans of EastEnders need not despair entirely, as the door remains ajar for a potential return of Bobby Beale to Walford in the future. Confirming Milner Russell’s departure, an EastEnders spokesperson extended best wishes for his future endeavours, acknowledging the significant contributions he has made to the show.

As fans prepare to bid farewell to Bobby Beale, they can catch EastEnders airing Monday to Thursday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7:30 PM, continuing to enjoy the drama and intrigue that the soap has to offer.
