Drug Dealer Jailed for Four Years Following East Kent Investigation

Malik Hutchinson, 21, has been sentenced to four years in prison after admitting to multiple drug offences in connection with a drugs supply line operating in East Kent. His conviction follows an extensive investigation by Kent Police, which successfully dismantled a significant supply network in the region.

Hutchinson, of Highland Road in Bromley, Greater London, was arrested after detectives identified telephone numbers used to send bulk messages to drug users in the Ashford and Folkestone areas during May and June 2024. The investigation linked these phone numbers to Hutchinson, who was later apprehended in London. During the arrest, officers recovered drug paraphernalia, cocaine, cannabis, and around £3,000 in cash, along with multiple mobile phones.

On Wednesday, 12 June 2024, Hutchinson was charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin, as well as possession with intent to supply a Class A drug. He pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday, 5 September.

Detective Constable Martin Aird praised the successful investigation, stating, “Drugs misuse and the knock-on negative effects of substance addiction, which can ripple out through communities, bring misery to people’s lives. The dealers are the root of the problem, and we are sending out a clear message to them that their criminal activities will not be tolerated.”

Kent Police remain committed to tackling drug-related crime and the devastating impact it has on local communities.
