Drug Dealer Jailed for 18 Months, Seized Cash Donated to Charity

A man found with drugs concealed in a sock and over £2,000 in cash has been jailed for 18 months, with the seized funds being donated to a Chichester-based charity.

Alpay Seydali, 22, was arrested last September during proactive police patrols in Woking. Officers stopped Seydali’s vehicle and, after a search, discovered £2,270 in cash. A further search of the vehicle revealed a concealed black sock stuffed inside an air vent, which contained multiple bags of cocaine.

Seydali, who has no fixed address, was sentenced at Chichester Crown Court on January 17, 2025. The judge ordered that the £2,270 in cash be forfeited, and it will now be donated to The Young People’s Shop, a mental health charity in Chichester.

Investigating officer PC Chris West from West Surrey’s Neighbourhood Policing Investigation Team commented, “This result has removed another criminal from our streets and demonstrates how crucial it is for the public to report any information to the police. Thanks to the excellent stop by the arresting officer and the hard work of the Neighbourhood Policing Investigation Team, we continue to be determined to protect the community and wider Surrey from organised crime.”

The donation of the seized funds to the charity highlights the positive impact of the authorities’ efforts, not just in curbing crime, but also in supporting local services that benefit the community.
