Brace yourselves, night drivers! From Wednesday, October 8 to Friday, October 17, the M25 anticlockwise will be shut between Junction 5 (Chevening Interchange) and Junction 4 (Orpington and Bromley) every night. Closures will run from 10pm to 5:30am, and on Fridays, from 11pm to 6am.
This major hassle is down to vital repairs on the bridge over Shacklands Road in Shoreham, including swapping out a crucial expansion joint.
Detours and Diversions: Your Route Guide
- If you’re heading anticlockwise from Junction 5, you’ll need to divert east on the M26 to Junction 2a (Wrotham Heath).
- From there, take the A20 London Road northbound.
- Then hop onto the M20 westbound at Junction 2 and rejoin the M25 at Junction 3.
Drivers on the A21 northbound are not spared – you’ll be diverted clockwise on the M25 to Junction 6 (Godstone Interchange), then follow the anticlockwise diversion.
Key Tips for Motorists
- The M25 clockwise stays open, so watch your direction.
- Weekend closures are off the table unless emergencies pop up; contingency work may happen from October 18 to 22 overnight.
- Expect extra traffic around Croydon, Godstone, and Bromley during weekday nights.
- Plan ahead, check live travel updates, and leave extra time for your journey.
National Highways urges drivers to stay sharp and avoid getting stuck in diversions. Keep your wits about you and drive safe.
