Driver pulled from car and assaulted at roadside

An argument that turned into a vicious attack near Dover has landed a man in jail. Christopher Boxhall lost his temper during a row with a woman on Friday 18 May and tried to bite her face whilst she was driving along the A2. Boxall from Newman Road in Aylesham then punched the woman several times and put his fist through the windscreen of the car she was driving as he sat alongside her in the passenger seat. The victim pulled over near Shepherdswell on the Londonbound carriageway where Boxhall then dragged her out of the car and threw her to the ground. He repeatedly punched and kicked her in the head. Members of the public who witnessed the assault reported it to Kent Police and two drivers pulled over to intervene. One man was punched in the face and another was pushed away whilst trying to help the woman. When officers arrived at the scene, Boxhall, 37, turned his aggression towards them. He resisted his arrest and hit one police officer in the face and ear. Boxhall was taken into custody and later pleaded guilty to three counts of assault by beating, two counts of criminal damage, assault of a constable, obstructing a constable in the execution of their duty, and harassment – breach of a restraining order. He was sentenced to two years and one month in prison at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday 23 August 2018. Investigating officer, PC Adele Tyrer, said: ‘Boxhall has demonstrated that he is a very violent man, unable to control himself. He carried out this attack in full view of the public and at no point showed any remorse for what he’d done. ‘The victim was driving on a very busy road when he took his temper out on her and he could have caused a serious accident, especially when he smashed the windscreen of the car. ‘As well as her injuries, which included cuts and bruises, he hurt members of the public too who were just trying to help. ‘Thankfully he will now serve time in prison for his actions.’
