Driver jailed for 16 weeks for driving whilst disqualified in Blackburn

On Thursday the 16th of April 2020, a Vauxhall Astra displaying cloned number plates was sighted in the Blackburn area and was then tracked into Bolton via Darwen. An officer from Lancashire Constabulary’s Tactical Operations Division sighted the vehicle at the front of a queue of traffic and, seizing the initiative, attempted to block the vehicle in. The Astra reversed onto the pavement in an attempt to escape and its progress was halted by the police vehicle. Unfortunately a blue BMW 3 series, also on cloned number plates managed to escape, and is still outstanding.

The driver of the Astra, Wasim Iqbal, 22, of Chorley New Road, Bolton, was yesterday (17/04/2020) imprisoned for 16 weeks for driving whilst disqualified, driving without due care and attention, driving without insurance and using a vehicle fitted with tyres of insufficient tread depth.
