Driver Arrested After Ploughing Into 11 Year Old In East London

After being hit by a car in East London this evening, an 11-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital. Around 6.30pm, police were called to Kingsland Road in Hackney after a car collided with the child.

The driver was arrested at the scene, and the road is now closed. Several buses were diverted as well.

A Met Police spokesperson said : “At 6.30pm, a car collided with an 11-year-old pedestrian on Kingsland Rd E8. At the hospital, the child is in critical condition. The driver of the car has been arrested. There are road closures in place.”

Anyone who has yet to speak with police is asked to dial 101 and enter the case number 6185/28jan.
