Double Stabbing in East Ham Leads to Arrest and Hospitalisation

In the early hours of Thursday morning, a violent incident in East Ham left two men hospitalized with stab wounds and a third man under arrest. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers were dispatched to St Johns Road at 3:35 AM after receiving reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, police, along with teams from the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance, found two men in their 40s suffering from stab injuries. Given the severity of their conditions, both were swiftly transported to a major trauma centre. Thankfully, their injuries are currently not considered life-threatening.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He is now being held in police custody as investigations continue.

The area surrounding the incident, including Barking Road and several side streets, was cordoned off to facilitate an in-depth forensic examination. The closures, which began around 4 AM, are expected to impact local traffic significantly.

The Metropolitan Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward. Witnesses can contact the police directly or anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers.
