Dog walker attacked with acid in Boughton

Kent Police is urging dog owners to be vigilant after a report of an attempted theft of a dog in Boughton Monchelsea. A man was walking his dog along a footpath off Hubbard’s Lane between 7.30am and 8.30am on Sunday 19 August when two men tried to steal his dog. When the victim challenged them he and the dog were reportedly sprayed with an unknown substance by one of the men. The victim was taken to hospital suffering from the effects of the substance and the dog was taken to the vet’s as a precaution. The first man is described as being in his 40s and of a large build. He was wearing a white shirt and jeans. The second man is described as being in his 30s and slim. Detective Sergeant Jemma Cropper said: ‘We are urging dog walkers in the area to be vigilant and are advising them to keep dogs on leads. ‘We are also appealing for anyone with information about the incident or who recognises the descriptions of the two men to contact us.’ If you can help, please call Kent Police on 01622 604100, quoting reference 19-0357.
