After being rescued by Eastbourne Lifeboat and Coastguards, a dog survives a 400-foot cliff fall.
Today, Wednesday, July 27th, at 3.30pm, the Eastbourne Lifeboat RNLI Volunteer Crew was paged.
They were asked to launch the Inshore Lifeboat and help Local Coastguards locate and recover a dog and its owner who had become trapped on the cliff face.
After the dog had fallen nearly 400 feet and the owner was distraught,
A local Coastguard was lowered down the cliff face to recover the injured dog and owner onto the beach, where an Inshore Lifeboat was waiting.
Because of the deteriorating sea conditions and the state of the tide, Helmsman Dean Parker decided to return everyone to the Inshore Lifeboat station.
When the owner was brought back ashore, he was cold and shocked, and the dog was taken to a local vet by Coastguard to be checked over and treated for any injuries.
This was a very unfortunate accident,” said Eastbourne RNLI, “and we would urge people to be aware of the dangers while walking along the coastline with dogs.
