Polish electronic music legend DJ Hazel has tragically died at the age of 44, sparking a police investigation after his body was discovered inside a parked car.
Michał Orzechowski, better known as DJ Hazel, was found dead on May 7 near Skępe, Lipno County, in Poland. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently being described as “mysterious,” with authorities working to establish the cause.
Lipno police spokesperson Małgorzata Małkińska confirmed the discovery and said investigations are ongoing to clarify the situation.
Tributes have poured in from across the music industry. Fellow Polish artists, including DJ Pawbeats and DJ C-Bool, paid heartfelt tributes on social media, remembering Hazel as a pioneer of Polish clubbing and a “legend” of the electronic music scene.
DJ Hazel rose to fame in the 1990s, becoming one of Poland’s most iconic DJs. He was renowned for his energetic techno, electro house, progressive house, trance, and hardstyle sets, earning the nickname “Fastest Hands of Europe.”
