Detectives investigate suspicious death of man in Gillingham

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are investigating after the body of a man was found deceased in Gillingham. Kent Police was called by Kent Fire and Rescue Service at 10.32am on 14 February 2019 to an address in Firethorn Close, Gillingham. Kent Fire and Rescue Service had attended a report of a fire at the residential property and upon entering found the body of a deceased man. Officers are currently treating the death as suspicious. An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and officers are liaising with Kent Fire and Rescue Service regarding the cause of the fire. The man’s next of kin has been informed and officers remain in the area at present.
