Detectives Have Launched A Murder Investigation Following The Death Of A Woman In Lewisham
Police were called at 3.39pm on Tuesday, 1 November after concerns were raised for the welfare of a woman at an address in Tanner’s Hill, SE8. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance. A woman, believed to be aged in her 30s, was found with stab wounds. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed. A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. The victim and the arrested man were known to each other. Officers are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident. *Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, in charge of policing for Lewisham, said:* “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has lost her life and we will continue to give them specialist support. “I know that there will also be shock and concern within the community at this time. I want to reassure people that this was an isolated incident and that a man remains in police custody. “There will continue to be an enhanced police presence in the area and anyone who has any concerns or information that could help the investigation should speak to officers.” Alternatively anyone with information can call 101 with reference 5074/01NOV or Crimestoppers, completely anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
