A 77-year-old man has died in a house fire on Coulsdon Road in Croydon, South London, in the early hours of Sunday, May 25. The blaze tore through both floors of a semi-detached house next to Keston Primary School just before 2am. Despite firefighters rescuing the man from a staircase, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The London Fire Brigade brought the fire under control by 3:03am, with crews from Purley, Wallington, and Croydon responding. Investigators, including police and fire officers in protective gear, are still working to determine the cause of the fire. No arrests have been made.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact police on 101, referencing 714/25MAY.
