NICKED Crime Gang Jailed for Nicking Over £2 Million Worth of Cars
Crime Gang Jailed for Nicking Over £2 Million Worth of Cars – UKNIP

Five members of a ruthless organised crime gang have been handed prison sentences for stealing more than £2million in vehicles across Hampshire, Dorset, and Wiltshire. The crooks nicked 107 high-end cars, mostly in the dead of night, snatching them right off owners’ driveways between February and October 2023.

How The Gang Operated

The gang used clever tech to rip off expensive cars. By employing signal boosters, they tricked keyless ignition systems into thinking the owner’s key fob was nearby, unlocking cars without a trace. They also deployed signal jammers that stopped owners from locking their vehicles properly, leaving them vulnerable to theft while they slept.

Once stolen, the cars were stripped down at a ‘chop shop’ for parts — a sophisticated racket described by the judge as “highly commercial” and “alarming” to any car owner.

The judge praised the police investigation as “remarkable and thorough,” applauding the work that dismantled the gang’s entire operation.

Police Speak Out

“Most cars were stolen in the dead of night while owners were fast asleep. The financial and emotional toll on victims has been huge,” said DC Paul Beasley from the Serious and Organised Crime Unit. “Our team logged over 12,000 hours, with seven police forces involved. This gang is finished, and we hope this sends a message to anyone thinking of swiping other people’s hard-earned vehicles.”

More Sentencing To Come

Another seven gang members will face sentencing on 21 November, including:

  • Frank Bran, 23, Southampton
  • Brandon Cross, 26, Southampton
  • Jason Downs, 21, Winchester
  • Gary Kelly, 38, Bransgore
  • William Martin, 24, Broadstone
  • Billy Masters, 24, Southampton
  • Matthew Watkins, 24, Ringwood

Protect Your Car Now

Car owners are urged to invest in approved steering or wheel locks from Secured by Design. For keyless ignition vehicles, keep key fobs away from doors and windows to limit signal reach. Faraday pouches can block signals and offer extra protection.
