A Coventry man has been found guilty of raping and indecently assaulting a young girl over a decade, West Midlands Police confirmed.
Brutal Abuse Spanning Over a Decade
Brendan Dalton terrorised his victim between 2002 and 2013. The abuse began when the girl was a child and took place at a Coventry address. He subjected her to horrific acts on multiple occasions.
Online Sting Leads to Arrest
In 2022, Dalton communicated online with someone he believed was a 13-year-old. Unbeknownst to him, it was a police decoy. Officers from Coventry’s Local Policing Area swooped and arrested him.
Police search of Dalton’s phone uncovered indecent images of children, including several Category A images – the most extreme level.
Conviction and Next Steps
- Dalton, 57, of Coundon Road, was charged with rape, indecent assault, making indecent images, and sexual communication with a child.
- He was convicted at Warwick Crown Court on 2 October.
- Dalton remains in custody and will be sentenced on 5 December.
“He was identified after she bravely came forward to tell her story,” said West Midlands Police.
