Cornfield Fire in Ramsgate Brought Under Control

Firefighters have successfully extinguished a cornfield fire that broke out in Newlands Lane, Ramsgate, on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The fire, which began earlier in the afternoon, prompted a rapid response from Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

At the height of the incident, four fire engines were dispatched to the scene, where crews used high-pressure hose reel jets and beaters to tackle the flames. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Earlier in the day, residents in the area were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to heavy smoke. The advice has since been lifted as the fire has been fully extinguished, and the area is now deemed safe.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service issued a reminder to the public to share this information, especially with those who may not have access to the internet, to ensure everyone remains informed.

Further updates will follow if the cause of the fire is identified.
