Coastguard called after fear tent had floated away

Cowes RNLI and the coastguard were involved in a search of the River Medina late last night (Thursday) over fears a tent had floated away with the tide. The UK Coastguard requested the launch of Cowes’ Atlantic 85 lifeboat at 22:50 after receiving reports that a tent that was pitched on the foreshore at Island Harbour had disappeared when the tide rose. With fears that one or more people may be in danger, the lifeboat conducted a shoreline search of the River Medina alongside colleagues from the Coastguard Rescue Team. No tent or persons were found and both teams were stood down.
