West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the scene at 9.56pm on Wednesday, 3 September, deploying three fire engines to tackle the blaze. “Unfortunately the two vessels weren’t able to be saved despite best efforts from the fire service and sadly both vessels sunk,” a Coastguard spokesperson said.

The Coastguard confirmed the incident was brought under control by the early hours of Thursday, with teams stood down at 12.45am when the Chichester Marina fire and explosions sink two boats.
No injuries have been reported, though investigations are continuing into the cause of the fire.
