Celebrity peer Lord Brocket faces rape charges and Sussex sexual assault claim

A celebrity peer who once appeared on the hit reality show I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! has appeared in court accused of rape and sexual assault, police have confirmed.

Lord Charles Brocket, 73, of Fulham, west London, stood before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (30 August) charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.

The Metropolitan Police said the rape allegations relate to an incident in Fulham during the early hours of 10 August. A separate charge of sexual assault by penetration is linked to an incident in the East Sussex village of Warbleton on 5 May.

All charges involve the same woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

During the brief hearing, Brocket confirmed his name, date of birth and address as prosecutors outlined the allegations. He was not asked to enter a plea but the court heard that he denies the charges.

District Judge Louisa Ciecióra granted him conditional bail, which includes wearing a GPS tag and being excluded from entering the M25 area. He is next due to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on 26 September.

A police spokesperson confirmed Brocket was arrested on Friday (29 August) before being formally charged the following day. They added: “The victim is being supported by specialist officers.”

Lord Brocket, a well-known figure in the British aristocracy, gained public recognition after finishing fourth in the 2004 series of ITV’s I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! in which former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona was crowned winner.
