CCTV issued by officers investigating Maidstone assault

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Maidstone have issued CCTV images of a man who may have important information about the incident. At about 1.10am on Tuesday 16 April 2019, a woman in her late teens was walking along Lower Stone Street when she saw a man she did not know near the junction with Mote Road. He walked past her on Upper Stone Street and then turned left into Waterloo Street. The woman told police that as she continued onto Loose Road and reached the junction with Park Way, she was approached from behind by the same man who grabbed her hand before punching her in the face. He is then reported to have punched her again after she fell to the floor until she screamed and fought the man off. He then ran off along Park Way before the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment for facial injuries. Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV images is urged to call the appeal line on 01622 604100 quoting reference 46/72607/19. You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers in Kent anonymously on 0800 555111.
