Detectives in Lancashire have released a CCTV image in connection with a hate crime incident that transpired on a train travelling between Chorley railway station and Preston. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, 19 December, around 11:30am, involved antisemitic comments and threats directed at a woman by one of two men on board.
According to reports, the woman boarded the train at Chorley and took a seat in front of the two men. After approximately five minutes, she overheard one of the men making antisemitic remarks on his mobile phone. When the man noticed the woman looking at him, he ceased the phone conversation but then proceeded to make further antisemitic threats and used offensive language towards her.
The train reached Preston approximately five minutes later, at which point the woman disembarked. The two men, involved in the incident, also left the service at Preston station.
In an effort to further the investigation, officers have released a CCTV image of a man they believe might have information relevant to the case. Authorities are urging anyone who recognises the individual in the image to come forward and assist with the ongoing inquiry.
