A man has been jailed for nearly two years after a significant cannabis cultivation was uncovered at his home in Broadstairs.
Giedrius Sadeckas, 47, was arrested after Kent Police executed a warrant at his property in Ramsgate Road during the early hours of Sunday, 6 March 2022.
Inside the house, officers found a large-scale cannabis grow operation in an upstairs bedroom. In total, 33 cannabis plants were seized with an estimated street value of £25,000. The plants weighed nearly 4kg across multiple evidence bags.
Sadeckas pleaded guilty to being concerned in the production of a controlled drug. He was sentenced to 22 months’ imprisonment at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday, 31 July 2025.
Police Statement
Detective Constable Alice McCarthy of Kent Police said:
“The cultivation of cannabis on this scale is not a victimless crime. It is often linked to exploitation, antisocial behaviour, and organised criminal networks.
We will continue to take proactive steps to dismantle these kinds of operations and bring those responsible to justice.”
Kent Police said the operation followed community intelligence and formed part of their ongoing efforts to tackle drug-related harm and organised crime in Thanet and the wider Kent area.
