Man Faces Court Over Fatal Crash

Matthew Gunning, 39, from Braemor Road, Calne, has been charged with causing the death of a woman in a head-on collision. He is set to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 9 December.

Fatal Collision on A3102

The crash happened on 26 February 2024 on the A3102 near Calne. Gunning was driving a Vauxhall Zafira when it collided head-on with a Dacia Sandero. The driver of the Dacia, Sheila Chilcott – known as Gail – in her 60s from Melksham, tragically died as a result.

Allegation: Careless Driving Caused Death

Gunning faces the charge of killing Ms Chilcott by driving without due care and attention. The case will proceed at Swindon Magistrates’ Court next week.
