Bus Crashes into Woods Outside Biggin Hill Airport – Multiple People Reportedly Trapped

Emergency services have responded to a serious road traffic collision involving a bus near Biggin Hill Airport this afternoon, resulting in the full closure of Main Road in both directions.

The crash occurred near the junction with Nightingale Close at approximately 1:47pm. Early reports suggest the electric bus left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area. Multiple individuals may be trapped onboard, prompting a major emergency response.

 London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service crews are currently at the scene. Police and additional specialist teams are also in attendance.

Several Transport for London (TfL) bus routes have been disrupted as a result, including routes 246, 320, 464, and R2, which are all terminating early at Biggin Hill Airport until the road is cleared.

Witnesses described a large emergency presence, with sirens and helicopter activity reported in the area shortly after 2:00pm.

The Met Police have been contacted for a statement and further details are expected to follow as the situation develops.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes. TfL is also advising passengers to check live updates before travelling.

A Source for London Fire Brigade said Crews from Biggin Hill,Addington, and Croydons FRU are working at the scene of a double-decker bus that has fallen down an embankment following a collision. Fortunately, no persons were trapped.
