Burglary remanded after jewellery stolen from Gillingham home

Burglary suspect charged after jewellery stolen from Gillingham home A burglary suspect has been remanded in custody after cash and jewellery were reported to have been stolen from a Gillingham home. An offender damaged the back door of a house in Maple Avenue at some time between 11.30am and 1.30pm on Wednesday 15 January 2020, before stealing the items and leaving property strewn across the address. Officers from the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad investigated the circumstances and on Wednesday 1 April arrested William Cassidy on suspicion of the offence. The 41-year-old, of Chancel Drive, Rochester, was later charged with one count of burglary and remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 2 April. At the hearing, he was further remanded in custody and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday 30 April.
