The sudden death of Simon Brown, 47, fondly known as Browny, in his Thailand hotel room has left his community in Wales reeling with shock and sadness. Brown, described as “supremely popular,” was a frequent traveller who particularly enjoyed visiting Thailand.
His unexpected demise has prompted his friends to initiate a fundraising campaign to raise £10,000 to repatriate his body to his hometown in Trallwn, Swansea, South Wales.
Mark Davies, a close friend of Brown, expressed disbelief at the news, stating, “There was nothing wrong with him. Everyone knew him. He was a crazy bloke – really outgoing and always up for a laugh.” Davies emphasized that Brown’s sudden passing came as a shock as he wasn’t known to be ill.
Brown’s family and friends are grappling with the devastating loss and are seeking support to bring him back home for his final resting place. A fundraising page has been set up to facilitate the repatriation process, with heartfelt appeals to those who knew and loved Browny to contribute.
We are asking all those who knew and loved Browny to help us bring him back home,” his family stated on the fundraising page. “Thanks to all those who have reached out and sent messages of condolence, and we appreciate any help you can give.”
The initiative has garnered significant traction, with over £2,000 raised thus far, indicating the outpouring of support for Brown and his family during this challenging time.
Efforts to reach the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for comment on the matter are underway.
The circumstances surrounding Brown’s death remain unclear, with further details awaited as the investigation progresses.
