Man in Critical Condition After Early-Morning Assault in Brighton City Centre
A man in his 30s is fighting for his life after being seriously assaulted during a violent altercation in the heart of Brighton city centre in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident occurred around 2:30am on Western Road, near the Buddha Nail Studio, and escalated westward to a location opposite McDonald’s—a busy late-night hotspot just steps from Churchill Square.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Sussex Police confirmed that the incident involved a fight between two groups of men, with one group reportedly fleeing the scene before emergency services arrived.
The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and then transported to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Officer’s Statement
Detective Inspector Ed Neve, who is leading the investigation under Operation Axle, issued the following statement:
“This was a serious assault that has left a man with significant injuries.
We know there were a number of people involved and multiple witnesses in such a central location, so we are asking anyone with information or relevant video footage to contact us.”
