A significant fire has broken out at the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee School on Kennet Road in Maida Vale, West London, prompting a large-scale emergency response.

Incident Details

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) reported that they were called to the scene at 1:07 PM. Eight fire engines and approximately 60 firefighters are currently tackling the blaze, which has engulfed part of the school’s roof.

Station Commander Hardeep Dale, who is at the scene, stated: “The school was safely evacuated before our crews arrived, and we are working closely with partner agencies to support everyone affected by the incident.”

Firefighters are utilizing two of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders as water towers to combat the fire from above.

Emergency Response

Emergency services, including paramedics and police units, are on-site supporting evacuation efforts and managing the scene. One woman is being treated at the scene for injuries.

Road closures are in effect around Kennet Road and the Maida Vale area, leading to significant traffic disruptions. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the vicinity to allow emergency services to operate efficiently.

Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee School is a special educational needs institution catering to pupils aged 4 to 19 with severe learning difficulties.
