A police investigation has been launched after a body was discovered in the back of a vehicle at an industrial estate near Gatwick Airport, Sussex Police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to Whittle Way in the Northgate area of Crawley at around 10:30am on Thursday morning (6 June), following reports of a body inside a parked vehicle.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been formally confirmed, and officers say efforts are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

“Officers were called to Whittle Way in Crawley shortly after 10:30am on Thursday, June 6, following the discovery of a body in the rear of a vehicle. A full investigation is under way and the area remains secured. No further information is available at this stage.”

Local businesses reported a heightened police presence, with several marked vehicles and specialist teams observed on scene throughout the afternoon.
