Body Found in Barnsley Believed to Be Missing Yorkshire Woman Claire Driver

A body discovered by South Yorkshire Police in Barnsley is believed to be that of missing woman Claire Driver, 44, who was last seen on the afternoon of June 24 in Silkstone, Barnsley.

The search for Claire, which has been ongoing for months, involved specialist officers, search dogs, and widespread circulation of missing person posters. Claire was last spotted by a passer-by in the Silkstone area, leading police to focus their efforts on the surrounding woodland.

On Sunday, September 15, South Yorkshire Police confirmed the tragic discovery of a body, believed to be Claire Driver, although formal identification is still pending.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said: “A body has been found this morning (15 September) in the Silkstone area of Barnsley. While formal identification is yet to take place, we do believe it to be missing woman Claire Driver. Her family has been informed. Thank you to everyone who shared our appeals.”

Claire’s disappearance has drawn significant attention and concern from the local community, with many joining in the efforts to help find her. The discovery brings a heartbreaking end to the months-long search.
