Body Found in Abingdon Linked to Missing Person Investigation

Thames Valley Police officers have sadly discovered the body of a man in Abingdon this afternoon (October 6) in connection with an ongoing missing person investigation.

At around 12:40 pm, the body was located in woodland near Radley, Abingdon. While formal identification is yet to be completed, officers believe the man to be Dean, who was reported missing from Heyford Hill, Oxford, on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

Detective Sergeant Nathan Adby, of Abingdon CID, said: “Extensive enquiries and searches have been ongoing for Dean since he was reported missing, and very sadly, a body has been located this afternoon by officers and colleagues from Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire.

“Although formal identification has not yet taken place, we believe this to be Dean. His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers. Our thoughts are with the family at this very distressing time.

The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Dean’s family have expressed gratitude for the support received during the investigation, and Thames Valley Police also thanked everyone who shared their appeals for information during the search.
