Man in His 20s Dies After Suspected Drug Incident in Bexleyheath as Police Launch Investigation

A man has died after suffering a cardiac arrest in Bexleyheath in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday.

Emergency Call

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service to reports of a man in cardiac arrest in Broadway, Bexleyheath, at 4.10am on Monday, 25 August.

Despite the efforts of paramedics and police officers at the scene, the man – aged in his 20s – was tragically pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigation Underway

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the death is being treated as unexpected. Detectives have launched an investigation and enquiries remain ongoing.

It is understood the man had been attending a party at the rear of a business premises before collapsing outside. Sources suggest he may have taken a bad batch of ketamine, although this has not yet been confirmed by police.

A post-mortem examination and toxicology tests will be carried out in due course.

Additional Arrests

Police also confirmed that a number of unrelated arrests were made at the location concerning individuals whose immigration status is being handled by the Home Office.

Shock in the Community

Friends of the deceased described themselves as “very shocked” at the sudden loss. The man has not yet been formally identified, but his next of kin have been informed.

Police Appeal

A Met Police spokesperson said:

“If you have any information which could assist our investigation, please contact police by calling 101 or post on X @MetCC quoting CAD 1282/25Aug.”
