Bembridge Lifeboat Launched After Debris Washed Up On Beach

The Bembridge lifeboat has been launched just after 3:30pm this afternoon Wednesday January 4th after reports of debris on the shoreline washing up from the Solent, it is unclear whether a rescue or search operation is taking place, is believed a dingy has been recovered as part of the launch operation. Spokesman from the UK Coastguard has said “Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the Bembridge RNLI Inshore Lifeboat at around 15:45 to investigate reports of debris floating in the sea between the lifeboat station and the nearby coastguard station. The lifeboat quickly located the object – a partial hull of a dinghy – and met with Coastguard Officers at Paddock Drive to recover the debris to the shore. Both the lifeboat and Coastguard have now been stood down as it has been established the debris broke up in a storm some weeks ago.
